East Coast Shakes as Powerful Earthquake Rocks US North-East

Powerful Earthquake rocked the East Coast on Friday triggering a 4.8 magnitude earthquake. The band is playing shows on the East Coast as part of their Rock the Foundations tour. People reported feeling the quake in the states of Connecticut and Massachusetts, with the Weather Channel reporting that it was noticeable in Boston and residents in Philadelphia reporting they felt it, too. Tremors lasting for several seconds were felt more than 200 miles away near the New Hampshire border.

The temblor was reported about 5 miles north of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, at about 10:23 a.m. Friday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The epicenter was about 45 miles away from New York City, where residents reported shaking furniture and floors.

“We are happy that no major disruptions or damage have been reported” said Ean Sicko of the show. “I guess Josh had an off morning” he added.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said the quake was felt throughout New York, and officials are assessing impacts and any potential damage.
